Incognito....but I think it warrants exposure

Ode to Mandy.

Shall I compare thee to the Pennine Way
Thou art more tiring with your tongue of slate Rough winds discomfort thee all day And Luton's lease doth bring a lousy gate.

Sometime too hot the screaming neuron shines And often is her warm demeanor dimmed And every fair from fair sometime declines, By chance, or govt's changing course untrimmed.

But thy eternal ranting shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that bill thou ow'st; Nor shall Louis brag thou wand'rest in his shade, When Appleby's lines to nimhe thou blow'st,

So long as men can cock it up you see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

AT LEAST THEY DIDN'T DO ME THE DISHONOUR OF COMPARING ME TO A SUMMER'S DAY. If the cap fits then I will wear it :>)

  1. Summer's day...bit ancient history is it...or would it just be snow in July or summit...

  2. Hi Jules

I think there was something a bit Wordsworth-esque about the original poem. But am no expert on Wordsworth.

Least I don't have to stand in Louis Appleby's shadow (He having been given the title of 'Mental Health Tsar' by The Labour Party or one of their civil servants). Glad I don't have to stand in anyone's shadow (except me own Ha!)

On reflection, me thinks the poet gave me a backhanded slap in the mouth and would much prefer me talking of the massive steps taken in service user representation. Maybe...but many more backwards than forwards.

The proof, as ever, is in the pudding...and is more duff than plum!!!!

I know exactlty the video I am going to put up today. Sniggers as she goes.

  4. Been too long since I read any Shakespeare, Margaret... (although I should have known better) and my 2 favs are Macbeth and King Lear (the latter too close for comfort in certain ways).

Maybe an apt start would be:

Shall I compare thee to me?
    Such comparisons should never be
For what is one man's recovery
    could be another's travesty.
